The author shows that there is no monic polynomial \(f\in \mathbb Z[x]\) of degree \(n\ge 3\) such that \(f^2(x)- 1 =\prod_{i=1}^{2n}(x-a_i)\) with \(a_i\in \mathbb Z\).
