Abstract: We construct the Frobenius structure on a rigid connection mathrmBecheckG on mathbbGm for a split reductive group checkG introduced by Frenkel-Gross. These data form a checkG-valued overconvergent F-isocrystal mathrmBecheckGdagger on mathbbGm,mathbbFp, which is the p-adic companion of the Kloosterman checkG-local system mathrmKlcheckG constructed by Heinloth-Ng^o-Yun. By exploring the structure of the underlying differential equation, we calculate the monodromy group of mathrmBecheckGdagger when checkG is almost simple (which recovers the calculation of monodromy group of mathrmKlcheckG due to Katz and Heinloth-Ng^o-Yun), and establish functoriality between different Kloosterman checkG-local systems as conjectured by Heinloth-Ng^o-Yun. We show that the Frobenius Newton polygons of mathrmKlcheckG are generically ordinary for every checkG and are everywhere ordinary on |mathbbGm,mathbbFp| when checkG is classical or G2.
