Limiting subdifferential calculus and perturbed distance function in Riemannian manifolds
The aim of this paper is to provide definitions for Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferential and Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-normals set for functions and sets in Riemannian manifolds. The authors generalize the notions of Mordukhovich sequential subdifferential and normal cone (limiting subdifferential and normal cone) and develop several calculus rules for subdifferentials and normal cones in this setting. As an application, the limiting subdifferential of perturbed distance function is investigated in the Riemannian manifolds setting. This paper is organized as follows : the first section is an introduction to the subject. In the second section the authors recall some notions, definitions and known results about Riemannian manifolds which will be used throughout the paper. The third section provides definitions for the Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-normals set, Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferential in Riemannian manifolds and includes the development of the concepts of Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferential and Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-normals set and some of its associated results. The forth section, which contains the main result of this paper, deals with limitimg subdifferential in Riemannian manifolds. In this section, the authors generalize the concepts of Mordukhovich limiting subdifferential and normal cone to the Riemmanian manifolds as sequential limits of Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferential and \(\varepsilon\)-normals set, respectively. It is seen that in the Riemannian manifolds setting in the construction of the limiting subdifferential and normal cone it is possible to dismiss \(\varepsilon\) as Asplund spaces. In other words,, the limiting subdifferential and normal cone (in the sense of Mordukhovich) have been developed to the Riemmanian manifolds. Also in a basic result in this section, the authors show that in the case of Riemmanian manifolds one can set \(\varepsilon=0\) in the formulas of limiting subdifferential and normal cone, as in Asplund spaces. In the fifth section, the authors explore the Fréchet \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferential of perturbed distance function in Riemannian manifolds setting. In the sixth section, they intend to extend some of the results obtained for the limiting subdifferetial of perturbed distance function in the linear spaces to the Riemannian manifolds setting. Finally, the seventh section is devoted to remarks, consequences and conclusions concerning the results obtained in this paper.
