Abstract: We investigate a Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation in a domain of mathbbR2 with two small close holes. The domain is obtained by making in a bounded open set two perforations at distance |epsilon1| one from the other and each one of size |epsilon1epsilon2|. In such a domain, we introduce a Dirichlet problem and we denote by uepsilon1,epsilon2 its solution. We show that the dependence of uepsilon1,epsilon2 upon (epsilon1,epsilon2) can be described in terms of real analytic maps of the pair (epsilon1,epsilon2) defined in an open neighborhood of (0,0) and of logarithmic functions of epsilon1 and epsilon2. Then we study the asymptotic behaviour of of uepsilon1,epsilon2 as epsilon1 and epsilon2 tend to zero. We show that the first two terms of an asymptotic approximation can be computed only if we introduce a suitable relation between epsilon1 and epsilon2.

The authors investigate a plane Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation in a triply connected domain with two small close holes. Two small parameters \(|\varepsilon_1|\) and \(|\varepsilon_2|\) are introduced. The distance between the holes holds \(|\varepsilon_1|\) and the linear sizes of holes is proportional to \(|\varepsilon_1\varepsilon_2|\). The first two terms of an asymptotic approximation of the solution are explicitly written in terms of unperturbed problem and contain \(\varepsilon_1 \varepsilon_2\), \(\log \varepsilon_1\), \(\log \varepsilon_2\).
