Abstract: Given 1leqle2 and alphainmathbbR, we study the properties of the solutions of the minimum problem [ lambda(alpha,q)=minleft{dfrac{displaystyleint_{-1}^{1}|u'|^{2}dx+alphaleft|int_{-1}^{1}|u|^{q-1}u, dx ight|^{frac2q}}{displaystyleint_{-1}^{1}|u|^{2}dx}, uin H_{0}^{1}(-1,1),,u otequiv 0 ight}. ] In particular, depending on alpha and q, we show that the minimizers have constant sign up to a critical value of alpha=alphaq, and when alpha>alphaq the minimizers are odd.
