Mapping degree and Euler characteristic
Characteristic classes and numbers in differential topology (57R20) Singularities of differentiable mappings in differential topology (57R45) Differentiable maps on manifolds (58C25) Abstract critical point theory (Morse theory, Lyusternik-Shnirel'man theory, etc.) in infinite-dimensional spaces (58E05) Topological properties of mappings on manifolds (58K15) Algebraic and analytic properties of mappings on manifolds (58K20)
The main purpose of this paper is to prove formula (4.2)-(4.3) contained in Theorem 4.1 connecting, under some hypothesis, the degree of a function-germ to the Euler characteristics of some sets. This result is related to another paper of the first author [Topology 32, No. 3, 567--571 (1993; Zbl 0789.58023)]
