The modular torus has maximal length spectrum

The author continues his study of surfaces having maximal length spectrum. These surfaces are very rare and the paper deals with the search of such surfaces. It is proved a conjecture made in another paper of the author [Duke Math. J. 84, No. 1, 199-215 (1996; reviewed above)], namely he shows that the modular torus has maximal length spectrum. The following conjecture is also proposed: ``the hexagonal lattice has maximal length spectrum for Euclidean tori.
