Abstract: In this paper we characterize the irreducible curves lying in . We prove that a curve has a degree one morphism to with image a curve of degree with irreducible preimage in if and only if there exists an irreducible smooth curve and morphisms from to and of degrees and respectively forming a diagram which does not reduce.
