The authors prove that the class of Weierstrass-Mandelbrot functions \[ V(x)= \sum^\infty_{-\infty} \lambda^{-\alpha i}g(\lambda^ix),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}, \] are of nonmonotone type, provided \(V(x)\not\equiv 0\). This result generalizes Bruckner and Garg's observation that the Weierstrass function has the property of nonmonotone type [\textit{A. M. Bruckner} and \textit{K. M. Garg}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 232, 307-321 (1977; Zbl 0372.46027)].
