Abstract: We examine the entropy of stationary nonequilibrium measures of boundary driven symmetric simple exclusion processes. In contrast with the Gibbs--Shannon entropy cite{B, DLS2}, the entropy of nonequilibrium stationary states differs from the entropy of local equilibrium states.
