Abstract: Given a smooth domain OmegasubsetRRN such that 0inpartialOmega and given a nonnegative smooth function zeta on partialOmega, we study the behavior near 0 of positive solutions of −Deltau=uq in Omega such that u=zeta on partialOmegasetminus0. We prove that if fracN+1N−1<q<fracN+2N−2, then u(x)leqCabsx−frac2q−1 and we compute the limit of absxfrac2q−1u(x) as xo0. We also investigate the case q=fracN+1N−1. The proofs rely on the existence and uniqueness of solutions of related equations on spherical domains.

The authors study the behavior near \(0\) of positive solutions for \(-\Delta u=u^{q}\), \(u=\xi \) on \(\partial \Omega \backslash \{0\},\) where \(q>1\) and \(\xi \) is a given nonnegative smooth function defined on \(\partial \Omega \backslash \{0\}.\) They prove that the limits of \(| x| ^{\frac{2}{q-1}}u(x)\) for \(\frac{N+1}{N-1}<q<\frac{N+2}{N-2}\) and \(| x| ^{N-1}(\log \frac{1}{| x| } )^{\frac{N-1}{2}}u(x)\) as \(| x| \rightarrow 0\) are \( \omega (x)\) and \(\kappa \frac{x_{N}}{| x| }\) respectively, where \(\kappa \) is a positive constant, \(x_{N}\) is the \(N\)th component of \(x\) and \(\omega \) is the positive solution of the related equation on a spherical domain.
