The paper proves the boundedness of a (`tangential') Littlewood-Paley operator \(g^*_\mu\), and its appropriate commutator with \(b\in\text{BMO}(\mathbb R^n)\), from the Herz-type Hardy space \(HK^{\alpha,p}_q(\mathbb R^n)\) to the Herz space \(K^{\alpha,p}_q(\mathbb R^n)\) for \(0<p<\infty\), \(1<q<\infty\), and \(n/q'\leq\alpha<n/q'+\varepsilon\), where \(\varepsilon\) represents the decay and regularity of the Littlewood-Paley function \(\psi\). For the endpoint \(\alpha=n/q'+\varepsilon\), a weak-type variant is obtained.
