On Tsirelson's space
\textit{B. S. Tsirelson} dans Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 8, No.2, 57-60 (1974; Zbl 0296.46018) introduit un espace de Banach réflexif qui ne contient aucun sous-espace isomorphe à un \(\ell_ p\) où à \(c_ 0\). L'article explicite certaines propriétés de cet espace et de son dual (noté ici T) comparables à celles des espaces \(\ell_ p\) ou \(c_ 0\). En particulier, l'espace de Tsirelson \(T^*\) se plonge dans tout sous-espace de dimension infinie d'un quotient de \(T^*\) (cette propriété est fausse pour T). De même tout quotient de \(G^*\) se plonge dans \(T^*\) (et donc tout sous-espace de T est isomorphe à un quotient de T). L'outil essentiel est celui des décompositions en facteurs directs de dimension finie et du regroupement par blocs de ces facteurs, dont les auteurs tirent une description agréable des applications linéaires continues à valeurs dans T ou \(T^*\).
