Rings with two-generated ideals

Let R be a commutative ring. R has the two-generator property if each ideal is generated by two elements. Several results known for rings with two-generator property are extended for stable rings (in which every regular ideal is projective over its endomorphism ring). Conditions under which stable rings have the two-generator property are determined.
