Separating Singularities of Holomorphic Functions

From MaRDI portal

The authors consider the problem of separating singularities of the type of Aronszajn's theorem: Let \(\Omega_1,\Omega_2\) be open subsets in the extended plane \(\widehat\mathbb{C}\). Then each \(f\) in the class \(H(\Omega_1\cap\Omega_2)\) of holomorphic functions on \(\Omega_1\cap\Omega_2\) can be written as \(f_1-f_2\) with suitable \(f_j\in H(\Omega_j)\), \(j=1,2\). An alternative proof (not based on the \(\overline\partial\)-operator) is derived from \(A\). Roth's fusion lemma. Moreover variations of such decompositions for open sets in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) as well as for compact sets \(K_1\), \(K_2\) in \(\widehat \mathbb{C}\) are given. In the latter case some delicate properties of \(K_1\), \(K_2\) are required, in contrast to the situation for open sets.
