The convergence of the modified quadrature method for the approximate solution of boundary integral equations of the first kind with logarithmic kernel ( Symm's integral equation) on a closed smooth curve is discussed. At first the interval of integration is transformed in the interval \([0,1]\), then the equation is regularized in the form \(u(t)\cdot\int K(t,\tau)d\tau+\int K(t,\tau)(u(\tau)-u(t))d\tau=f(t)\) and then the trapezoidal rule with a uniform mesh is used. The convergence of the order \(O(h^ 3)\) for smooth solutions is proved. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results.
