In this manuscript, the authors consider the following Rayleigh-type equation with state-dependent delay \[ \varphi^{\prime\prime}(\theta)+V_1(\theta,\varphi(\theta))+A(\varphi(\theta-V_2(\theta,\varphi(\theta))))=B(\theta).\tag{1} \] They reduce the existence of positive periodic solution of (1) to that of positive periodic solutions of an associated first order differential system. Making use of continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory, the authors prove the existence and uniqueness of a positive periodic solution. The result generalizes the result in reference [\textit{J. O. Alzabut} and \textit{C. Tunc}, Electron. J. Differ. Equ. 2012, Paper No. 77, 8 p. (2012; Zbl 1261.34049)]. At last, an example is given to explain their result.
