This paper presents a multidimensional continued fraction of Hirzebruch-Jung type, which explicitly describes \textit{A. Fujiki}'s resolution [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 10, 293--328 (1974; Zbl 0313.32012)] of a cyclic quotient singularity of arbitrary dimension. Moreover, the authors study its geometric properties. In the 3-dimensional case, their continued fraction explicitly describes the intersection form of the exceptional set. Moreover, their 2-dimensional continued fraction corresponds to a system of \(\mathbb{Z}^2\)-weightings of a nonsingular fan so that its dual graph is a triangulation of a real noncompact surface. As an application, the authors explicitly express a certain 3-dimensional Fourier-Dedekind sum \[ \mathbf{s}_0(d;a,b)=\frac{1}{d}\sum_{k=1}^{d-1}\frac{1}{(1-\xi^{ka})(1-\xi^{kb})(1-\xi^k)}, \] where \(d,a,b\) are natural numbers with \(\gcd(d,a)=\gcd(d,b)=1\) and \(\xi\) is a primitive \(d\)-th root of unity.
