In the paper under review, the authors give a detailed proof of the following unpublished theorem of Gabber: (1) Let \(A\) be a Noetherian ring and \(I\) an ideal of \(A\) such that \(A\) is complete for the \(I\)-adic topology. If the quotient ring \(A/I\) is quasi-excellent, so is \(A\). As a consequence, they deduce: (2) Let \(A\) be an excellent (resp. quasi-excellent) ring and \(I\) a proper ideal of \(A\). Then the \(I\)-adic completion of \(A\) is an excellent (resp. quasi-excellent) ring.
