Let \(X\) be a compact complex manifold of dimension \(n\geq 3\) endowed with a nowhere vanishing holomorphic \(n\)-form \(\Omega\). The paper studies the flow of Hermitian metrics \(\omega_t\) on \(X\) defined by: \[ \frac{d}{dt}\left(||\Omega||_{\omega_t}\omega_t^{n-1} \right)=i\partial\bar\partial \omega_t^{n-2}, \qquad d(||\Omega||_{\omega_0}\omega_0^{n-1})=0. \] This is a generalization to any dimension of the Anomaly flow with zero slope introduced by the authors in a previous paper [Math. Z. 288, No. 1--2, 101--113 (2018; Zbl 1407.32011)] for \(n=3\), essential for solving the Hull-Strominger system. The initial condition says that \(\omega_0\) is a conformally balanced metric, a property which is preserved along the flow. Moreover, the stationary points of the flow are Ricci-flat Kähler metrics. The paper first shows that the flow is parabolic, inferring short time existence and uniqueness of solutions. Furthermore, with a suitable initial condition, the authors prove the smooth convergence of the flow on Kählerian manifolds. This is accomplished by studying an associated complex Monge-Ampère type equation.
