Let \(X\) be a metric space with a doubling measure satisfying \(\mu(B)\gtrsim r^n_B\) for any ball \(B\) with any radius \(r_B>0\) and for some \(n\ge 1\), and let \(L\) be a non negative selfadjoint operator on \(L^2(X)\). There are made the following assumptions on \(L\): (A1) The Schrödinger flow \(e^{itL}\) satisfies a dispersive estimate: \(\|e^{itL}\|_{L^1\to L^{\infty}}\lesssim t^{-n/2}\), \(t\in (0, T_0)\) where \(T_0\in (0, +\infty]\). (A2) The kernel \(p_t(x, y)\) of \(e^{-tL}\) admits a Gaussian upper bound: \(\exists c, c>0\) such that for all \(x, y\in X\) and \(t>0\), \(|p_t(x, y)|\le C\mu^{-1}(B(x, \sqrt{t}))\exp (c^{-1}t^{-1}d^2(x, y))\). Let \(\phi:\mathbb R^+\to\mathbb R\) be a smooth function and \(\psi\in C^{\infty}(\mathbb R)\) is supported in \([1/2, 2]\). The authors prove a \(L^1\to L^{\infty}\) dispersive estimate for a general class of flows \(e^{it\phi(L)}\), with \(\phi\) of power type near \(0\) and near \(\infty\) in following theorem. Theorem. Let there exists \(0< m_1\le 1\) such that \(\phi^\prime(r)\sim r^{m_1-1}\) and \(|\phi^{\prime\prime}(r)|\gtrsim r^{m_1-2}\), \(r\ge 1\). Then we have \(|\psi(\lambda^{-1}\sqrt{L})e^{it\phi(L)}f|\lesssim |t|^{(1-n)/2}\lambda^{(1-m_1)n+m_1}\|f\|_{L^1}\), \(\lambda\ge 1\), \(|t|<T_0\). Theorem. Let there exists \(0< m_2\) such that \(\phi^\prime(r)\sim r^{m_2-1}\) and \(|\phi{\prime\prime}(r)|\gtrsim r^{m_2-2}\), \(0<r< 1\). Then we have \(|\psi(\lambda^{-1}\sqrt{L})e^{it\phi(L)}f|\lesssim |t|^{(1-n)/2}\lambda^{(1-m_2)n+m_2}\|f\|_{L^1}\), \(0<\lambda< 1\), \(|t|<T_0\). In the case of fractional powers \(\phi(L)=L^{\nu}\), \(\nu\in (0, 1)\), the authors deduce dispersive estimates with data in Sobolev, Besov or Hardy spaces, associated to the operators \(L\): Theorem. For \(\nu\in (0, 1)\) we have: (i) For \(s>(1-\nu)n+\nu\), \(\|e^{itL^{\nu}}f\|_{L^{\infty}}\lesssim |t|^{(1-n)/2}\|(I+L)^{s/2}f\|_{L^1}\), \(|t|<T_0\). (ii) For \(p\in (0, 1)\) and \(s=(1/p-\nu)n+\nu\), \(\|e^{itL^{\nu}}f\|_{L^{\infty}}\lesssim |t|^{(1-n)/2}\|L^{s/2}f\|_{H^p_L}\), \(|t|<T_0\). (iii) Moreover, for \(s=(1-\nu)n+\nu\) we have \(\|e^{itL^{\nu}}f\|_{L^{\infty}}\lesssim |t|^{(1-n)/2}\|f\|_{B^{s, L}_{1, 1}}\). In the final section the authors examine some applications to the Hermite and Laguerre operators and the twisted Laplacian, and in particular there are improved both the rate of decay and the loss of derivatives compared with the similar known estimates.
