As it is known, the total magnetization of ferromagnetic bodies is determined by the interplay of the local magnetic field governed by the exchange effects, an external field, and the demagnetizing field determined by the magnetization distribution and the shape of a body. The uniformity of the magnetization, i.e. an existence or non-existence of magnetic domains depends on the comparison of the magnetic energy of uniformly magnetized regions and the energy in the presence of irregularities. Thus, the problem can be stated as a variational one. Here, the authors consider the case of small particles: their size is comparable with the exchange length and physically such a particle should be the single domain. Further, it is mathematically rigorously proven that the local minimizer of the micromagnetic energy is already exactly uniform.
