The author uses the Baire category theorem to prove a nice conditional Hyers-Ulam stability theorem for the Pexider functional equation \(f(x+y)=g(x)+h(y)\). As a consequence he shows that there exists a subset \(\Gamma\subseteq \mathbb{R}^2\) of measure zero such that every function \(f : \mathbb{R} \to\mathbb{R}\) satisfying the Cauchy functional equation \(f(x+y)=f(x)+f(y)\) for all \((x,y)\in \Gamma\) is additive. This affirmatively answers a question raised by the author [Aequationes Math. 83, No. 3, 313--320 (2012; Zbl 1251.39020)].
