The authors introduce the class of almost Anosov flows: the tangent space of the underlying manifold admits an invariant decomposition into unstable, stable and flow direction, with exponential expansion (resp., contraction) in the unstable (resp., stable) direction, except along finitely many periodic orbits. They describe a particular class of such flows as suspension flows, prove precise asymptotics of ergodic integrals of the roof function (in Proposition 2.2) and a limit theorem with respect to the Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen measure. This limit theorem is proved thanks to an abstract limit theorem and the thermodynamical formalism adapted to this abstract context, developed along Sections 3--8. An appendix shows that these almost Anosov flows fit into this framework.
