    Let \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n\), \(n \geq 3\), be a bounded open set with \(C^2\)-boundary and let \(\gamma : \overline{\Omega} \to \mathbb{R}\) be a uniformly positive function (to be interpreted as the conductivity of the body \(\Omega\)). The Dirichlet-to-Neumann map corresponding to the boundary value problem \[ \begin{aligned} \operatorname{div} (\gamma \nabla u) & = 0 \quad \text{in}~\Omega, \\ u |_{\partial \Omega} & = f \end{aligned} \] with \(f \in H^{1/2} (\partial \Omega)\) defined by \[ \Lambda_\gamma : H^{1/2} (\partial \Omega) \to H^{- 1/2} (\partial \Omega), \quad \Lambda_\gamma f = \gamma \partial_\nu u |_{\partial \Omega}, \] where \(\nu\) is the outer unit normal to the boundary \(\partial \Omega\). The authors prove that the partial knowledge of \(\Lambda_\gamma\) determines the unknown conductivity \(\gamma\) provided that either \(\gamma \in C^{1, \delta} (\overline \Omega) \cap H^{3/2} (\Omega)\) or \(\gamma \in W^{1, \infty} (\Omega) \cap H^{3/2 + \delta} (\Omega)\), where \(\delta \in (0, 1/2)\) is fixed. Here partial knowledge means that the values of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map are known on the front face of \(\partial \Omega\) (with respect to some fixed point outside the convex hull of \(\Omega\)) and that some a priori knowledge of \(\gamma\) on parts (at least the back face) of the boundary is given. This extends an earlier result due to Kenig, Sjöstrand and Uhlmann, who assumed \(\gamma \in C^2 (\overline \Omega)\).
