For a degree \(d\) homogeneous polynomial \(f\) its rank \(\mathrm{rk}(f)\) (also called the Waring rank) is the minimal number of \(d\) powers of linear forms with \(f\) as their sum. The paper studies (of course in particular cases) a strong form of the symmetric Strassen'conjecture: if \(f\in \mathbb {C}[x_1,\dots ,x_n]\) and \(g\in \mathbb {C}[y_1,\dots ,y_m]\) is \(\mathrm{rk}(f+g) = \mathrm{rk}(f)+\mathrm{rk}(g)\) ? and if yes is any decomposition of \(f+g\) as a sum of \(\mathrm{rk}(f+g)\) \(d\)-powers of linear forms the sum of one of \(f\) and one of \(g\)? To get it for certain \(f, g\) the author uses other notions of ranks, which behaves independently when adding a particular \(g\). He uses the catalecticant rank and prove that it holds when for \(f, g\) for which the catalicant and the Waring rank are the same. He proves the same result with cactus rank instead of Waring rank. As a corollary he is able to compute the ranks in several examples. Among the quoted references, relevant are other lists of positive answers in particular cases ([\textit{E. Carlini} et al., J. Pure Appl. Algebra 219, No. 8, 3149--3157 (2015; Zbl 1316.14114); ``Symmetric tensors: rank, Strassen's conjecture and \(e\)-computability'', Preprint, \url{arxiv:1506.03176}]).
