Let \(X\) be a continuum and \(n\) be a positive integer, the symbol \(F_n(X)\) denotes the hyperspace of all nonemty subsets of \(X\) with \(n\) at most \(n\) points. Given two positive integers, \(n,m\) with \(m<n\), the symbol \(SF^{n}_{m}(X)\) denotes the quotient space \(F_n(X)/F_m(X)\). In the paper under review, the authors shows that \(SF^{n}_m(-)\) is a homotopic functor, in this way, they obtain a classification by homotopy. Also, the authors study the homotopy type of \(SF^{2}_{1}(X)\) and they calculate the Euler characteristic of \(SF^{n}_m(X)\), when \(X\) is a finite graph. Finally, in the paper, a polynomial associated with a finite graph is used to give particular solutions to the general problem: if \(X\) is a continuum such that \(SF_m^{n} (X)\) is homeomorphic to \(F_n(X)\), is \(X\) contractible?
