In this paper, the authors first introduce the concepts of derivation of degree \(n\), generalized derivation of degree \(n\), and ternary derivation of degree \(n\). For example, let \(\mathcal {A}\) be an algebra, \(\mathcal {M}\) be an \(\mathcal {A}\)-bimodule, and \(n\) be a positive integer, a map \(\Delta : \mathcal {A}\to \mathcal {M}\) is called a derivation of degree \(n\) if \[ \Delta (ab)=\Delta (a)b^n+a^n\Delta (b) \] and \[ \Delta (\lambda a)=\lambda ^n\Delta (a) \] hold true for all \(a, b\in \mathcal {A}\) and any \(\lambda \in \mathbb{C}\). Then the authors study these mappings and obtain some results.
