Stability of fixed points in Poisson geometry and higher Lie theory

From MaRDI portal

This paper introduces a unified framework for deriving sufficient conditions ensuring the stability of a (higher order) fixed point within a given bracket structure on a manifold under perturbations. Bracket structures encompassed by this framework include Lie algebroids, Lie \(n\)-algebroids, singular foliations, Lie bialgebroids, Courant algebroids, and Dirac structures in split Courant algebroids possessing a Dirac complement. Notably, this approach recovers existing stability results, such as those of \textit{M. Crainic} and \textit{R. L. Fernandes} [Invent. Math. 180, No. 3, 481--533 (2010; Zbl 1197.53108)] for zero-dimensional leaves and of \textit{J.-P. Dufour} and \textit{A. Wade} [Ann. Inst. Fourier 56, No. 3, 545--559 (2006; Zbl 1133.53054)] concerning higher order singularities. These diverse stability problems can be viewed as instances of a common problem: given a differential graded Lie algebra \(g\), a differential graded Lie subalgebra h of finite codimension in \(g\), and a Maurer-Cartan element \(Q\) in \(h^1\), the question becomes whether Maurer-Cartan elements in \(g\) sufficiently near \(Q\) are gauge equivalent to elements in \(h^1\). To resolve this, the paper proves that the vanishing of a finite-dimensional cohomology group, intrinsically associated with \(g\), \(h\), and \(Q\), provides an affirmative answer to the preceding question. Consequently, this vanishing condition implies the stability of fixed points for the aforementioned geometric structures.
