Stabilization of decentralized control systems

From MaRDI portal

The paper addresses a problem of stabilization of decentralized linear systems. The authors introduce the notion of quotient fixed modes: they are defined in such a way that the presence of strongly connected subsystems is taken into account. There is no a priori restriction about the class of admissible controls: they may be linear, time-varying or even nonlinear. Quotient fixed modes are precisely those fixed modes which cannot be removed by any kind of control law. Non-existence of quotient fixed modes (respectively, of quotient fixed modes in the closed right half complex plane) is therefore a necessary and sufficient condition for stabilization with an arbitrary decay rate (respectively, stabilization).
