Given a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind with a compact integral operator on a Banach space, the authors consider the situation that one is not interested in the solution of the integral equation itself but in some linear functional applied to this solution. In this context the authors discuss numerical methods that exhibit a superconvergence phenomenon.
