\textit{P. J. Myrberg} [Acta Math. 61, 39-79 (1933; Zbl 0007.16305)] showed how to calculate the Green function of a hyperbolic Riemann surface via its universal covering. The paper under review discusses how to estimate the pluricomplex Green function of a complex manifold \(M\) in a situation of a holomorphic (regular) covering \(\pi : N \to M\) via the pluricomplex Green function of \(N\). Similar results are given for the Azukawa pseudometric. The paper concludes with examples proving that, in general, there is no equality in that higher dimensional analogue of Myrberg's formula.
