Transition Density Estimates for Diffusion Processes on Post Critically Finite Self-Similar Fractals

From MaRDI portal

Let \(K\) be a post critically finite self-similar set. Let \(p_t(x,y)\) be the heat kernel associated with the Laplace operator on \(K.\) The authors prove the heat kernel estimate in terms of the effective resistance metric \(R(x,y).\) Namely, let \(N_m(x,y)\) be the shortest path counting function for \(R(x,y)\) and \(d_s\) the spectral dimension, then the main theorem says that there exist constants \(c_{1.1},c_{1.2},c_{1.3},c_{1.4}>0\) such that for all \(x,y\in K\) and \(0<t<1,\) if \[ e^{-m-1}\leq R(x,y)\leq e^{-m} \quad\text{and}\quad k(m,t):=\inf\{j:N_{m+j}(x,y)e^{-(S+1)(m+j)}<t\}, \] where \(S\) is the Hausdorff dimension of \(K\) with respect to the resistance metric, then \[ p_t(x,y)\leq c_{1.1}t^{-d_s\slash 2}\exp(-c_{1.2}N_{m+k(m,t)}(x,y)), \] and \[ p_t(x,y)\geq c_{1.3}t^{-d_s\slash 2}\exp(c_{1.4}N_{m+k(m,t)}(x,y)). \] Applications of the above theorem are given. For example, Aronson type estimates are obtained for the affine nested fractals. The authors obtain heat kernel estimate for the \textit{abc}-gasket. They also consider a one-parameter family of diffusions on the Sierpiński gasket. It turns out that in this case the heat kernel estimates are not of Aronson type.
