The authors consider combinatorial type preserving mobility properties of vertices of convex polyhedra. An equivalence relation and classification scheme is proposed for polyhedra based on their mobility vectors. The concepts and results discussed appear applicable to dynamic molecular modelling, shape analysis of protein folding, and the study of rearrangements of atomic clusters.
