Virtual automation environments: Design, modeling, visualization, simulation
This book deals with virtual automation environments and covers a wide scope (sensors used in virtual reality, computed aided design and modeling methods, rendering devices and algorithms). A survey of virtual reality techniques needs to introduce a lot of domains (i.e.: computer graphics, robotic, sensors,\dots) and one of the main idea of the book is to give information on all these domains.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEPart I of the book presents design methods for virtual reality. It can be noted that Chapters 1, 2 and 3 give general information and history of virtual reality, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. Chapter 4 is more theoretical and gives insight in the theory of transformation matrices used for positioning objects.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEPart II of the book needs the understanding of Chapter 4 of part I because, it deals with modeling objects, presenting kinematics models (used in robotic applications).NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEPart III of the book presents methods used to display graphics. Chapter 9 shows how geometric data must be processed before been visualized. Chapter 10 presents some rendering techniques, used to generate realistic; images from 3D models.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEPart IV of the book deals with simulation techniques. Example of collision checking is presented.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThis book is intended to people who want to have a good survey of virtual reality techniques.
