Volume comparison by timelike Lipschitz maps

From MaRDI portal

The author introduces a modification, which he denotes by \(\mathcal{W}^N\), of the time-like Hausdorff measure \(\mathcal{V}^N\) defined by \textit{R. J. McCann} and \textit{C. Sämann} on Lorentzian pre-length spaces in [Pure Appl. Anal. 4, No. 2, 367--400 (2022; Zbl 1505.28008)]. The author discusses basic properties and establishes volume comparison inequalities by causality preserving and time-like Lipschitz maps for both measures. Such inequalities are analogues of a volume comparison inequality for the Hausdorff measure by Lipschitz maps between metric spaces which is Proposition 1.7.8(4) of [\textit{D. Burago} et al., A course in metric geometry. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2001; Zbl 0981.51016)]. The author also investigates the coincidence of the two measures on smooth spacetimes and some specific Lorentzian pre-length spaces called Lorentzian warped products, and constructs some examples of time-like Lipschitz maps and causality preserving maps.
