Wavelet approximation of periodic functions
From MaRDI portal
In the paper the approximation of periodic \(L_p\) functions in wavelet spaces is investigated. Using Meyer wavelets, a Jackson-type theorem and a Bernstein-type theorem can be proved. Further, for functions possessing local regularity the rate of pointwise convergence of wavelet Fourier series is studied. The result can be extended to biorthogonal wavelet systems. Finally, also wavelet transforms generated by compactly supported scaling functions are considered.
