The author studies the Schwarz alternating method with overlapping and a variant thereof for the numerical solution of singularly perturbed semilinear elliptic boundary value problems in 2D. In particular, the convergence of the algorithm is analyzed with emphasis on the dependence of the convergence rate on the overlap and the perturbation parameter. Some illustrative numerical examples are given.
