The authors are concerned with the existence of extremal solutions for the following impulsive singular boundary value problem \[ u^{\prime \prime }(t)+f(t,u(t))=0,\quad t\in \left( 0,1\right) ,\quad t\neq t_{1} \] \[ \Delta u(t_{1})=I\left( u(t_{1})\right), \] \[ \Delta u^{\prime }(t_{1})=N\left( u(t_{1}),u^{\prime }(t_{1})\right), u(0)=a,\quad u(1)=b, \] where \(a,b\in \mathbb{R},\) \(\Delta u(t_{1})=u(t_{1}^{+})-u(t_{1})\),\ \(\Delta u^{\prime }(t_{1})=u^{\prime }(t_{1}^{+})-u^{\prime }(t_{1}^{-})\), \(f,I,N\) are continuous real-valued functions. The authors consider the case where \(f\) is an \(L^{1}\)-Carathéodory function and assume some monotonicity conditions on the impulsive functions \(I\) and \(N.\) To prove the existence of extremal solutions they rely on the method of upper and lower solutions and the monotone iterative technique.
