In [J. Oper. Theory 53, No.~1, 431--440 (2005; Zbl 1098.47028)], \textit{J. A. Cima} and the reviewer constructed a class of unbounded functions built over a Cantor set for which the Toeplitz operators with these symbols are compact. The authors of the present paper continue this line of investigation for the weighted Bergman space of the unit ball \(B_n\) in \(\mathbb C^n\). They also construct a function \(\phi \in L^2(B_n, (1-|z|^2)^{\lambda}\,dV)\), \(-1< \lambda < \infty\), which is unbounded on any neighborhood of each boundary point of \(B_n\) such that \(T_\phi\) is a trace class operator on \(L_a^2(B_n, (1-|z|^2)^{\lambda}\,dV)\). Reviewer's remark. It is not clear why the authors state the same result twice, as Proposition 2 and Theorem 3. Theorem 3 should be enough, with both proofs combined.
