The authors prove some weighted Hardy and Rellich inequalities on general Carnot groups with weights associated to the norm constructed by Folland's fundamental solution of the Kohn sub-Laplacian. The authors prove some weighted Hardy and Rellich inequalities on general Carnot groups with weights associated to the norm constructed by Folland's fundamental solution of the Kohn sub-Laplacian. The main results are the following: Let \(\mathbb G\) be a Carnot group with homogeneous dimension \(Q\) and let \(\alpha \in \mathbb R\). (i) (Hardy type inequality) If \(1<p<Q+\alpha\), \(\Phi \in C^{\infty}_0 (\mathbb G \backslash \{ 0\})\), then the following inequality holds \[ \int_{\mathbb G} |\nabla_{\mathbb G}\Phi|^pd^{\alpha}|\nabla_{\mathbb G}d|^{2-p} \geq \left( \frac{Q+\alpha-p}{p}\right)^p \int_{\mathbb G} | \Phi|^pd^{\alpha-p}|\nabla_{\mathbb G}d|^{2}. \] (ii) (Rellich type inequality) If \(1<p<\infty\), \(2-Q<\alpha <\min\{ (p-1)(Q-2), Q-2\}\), then the following inequality holds for \(\Phi \in C^{\infty}_0 (\mathbb G \backslash \{ 0\})\) \[ \begin{multlined} \int_{\mathbb G} d^{\alpha -2+2p} |\nabla_{\mathbb G}d|^{2-2p} |\nabla_{\mathbb G}\Phi|^p \\ \geq \left( \frac{(Q+\alpha-2)[(p-1)(Q-2)-\alpha]}{p^2}\right)^p \int_{\mathbb G} d^{\alpha-2}|\nabla_{\mathbb G}d|^{2}| \Phi|^p. \end{multlined} \]
