This paper is concerned with the global stability of the Cauchy problem for scalar conservation laws in 2-dimensions and to describe the large time behavior of its solution. The stability analysis is carried out for large initial perturbations and the 1-dimensional stability result is recovered. It is shown that the Cauchy problem admits a unique a global solution which tends to zero as time tends to infinity. The analysis is based on the energy method with the continuation argument that leads to the global stability result.
