Continuing their work in [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 403, 13--32 (2013; Zbl 1293.46005)], the authors present a quantitative version of Krein's theorem about the weak compactness of the convex hull \(co(H)\) of a weakly compact subset \(H\) of a Fréchet space \(E\). Their work extends recent deep results about quantitative versions of Krein's theorem for a Banach space \(E\) due to Cascales, Fabian, Granero, Hajek, Marcinszewski, Montesinos, Raja, Zizler, among others. Let \(E\) be a Fréchet space with a fundamental sequence \((\|\cdot\|_n)_n\) of seminorms such that the balls \(U_n:= \{x \in E : \|x\|_n \leq 1 \}\), \(n \in \mathbb{N}\), form a decreasing basis of neighbourhoods of the origin in \(E\). If \(h\) belongs to the bidual \(E''\) of \(E\), we write \(\|h\|_n:= \sup\{|h(u)| : u \in U^{\circ}_n \}\), and we set \(d_n(h,h'):= ||h - h' ||_n\) for \(h,h' \in E''\) and \(n \in \mathbb{N}\). For a bounded set \(H\) in \(E\) and \(n \in \mathbb{N}\), we define \(k_n(H):= \sup\{d_n(h,E) : h \in \overline{H} \}\), the closure taken in the weak* topology \(\sigma(E'',E')\) in \(E''\). Clearly, \(H\) is weakly compact in \(E\) if and only if \(k_n(H)=0\) for each \(n \in \mathbb{N}\). Using the \(\varepsilon\) interchangeability between \(H\) and \(U^{\circ}_n\), which is an extension of an idea of \textit{A. Grothendieck} [Am. J. Math. 74, 168--186 (1952; Zbl 0046.11702)], the authors prove that, if \(H\) is a bounded subset of a Fréchet space \(E\), then \(k_n(co(H)) \leq k_n(H)\) for each \(n \in \mathbb{N}\). Several consequences and reformulations for different measures of non-compactness \(k(H)\), \(k'(H)\) and \(lk(H)\) in Fréchet spaces are given.
