Let \(\mathbb{K}\subseteq \mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) be a \(C^{4}\)-smooth convex body containing the origin as its interior. Let \(K(x)\) denote the (positive) Gauss-Kronecker curvature at the point of the boundary \(\partial \mathbb{K}\) of \(\mathbb{K}\) where \(x\) is the unit outer normal vector to \( \partial \mathbb{K}\) at that point. Also, let \(u(x)\) denote the support function of \(\mathbb{K}\). Lutwak, Yang and Zhang stated the following conjecture: Let \(p\in (-n-1,1)\). If the \(p\)-curvature \([u(x)]^{1-p}/[K(x)]\) is constant for every \(x\in \mathbb{S}^n\), then \(\mathbb{K}\) must be a ball. The authors prove the following partial solution of the Lutwak-Yang-Zhang conjecture: The Lutwak-Yang-Zhang conjecture is true if either (i) \(p\in [ -1,0]\) or (ii) \(p\in (0,1)\) and the principal curvatures of \(\partial \mathbb{K}\) satisfy the following pinching relation \(k_1\geq k_2\geq \beta(p)k_1\), where \(\beta(p)=2[(1-\sqrt{1-\delta}) /\delta] -1\), \(\delta =\sqrt{1-(1-p)^2}\).
