Let \((\Omega,m)\) be a positive measure space and \(\left(T_t\right)_{t\geq 0}\) be a one-parameter semigroup of linear operators. Assume that \(T_t\) is a contraction in \(L^p(\Omega)\) for all \(p\in [1,\infty]\), \(t\in[0,\infty]\). In this case, the maximal function \[ M_T f(x):=\sup\limits_{\alpha>0}\frac{1}{\alpha}\left|\int\limits_0^\alpha T_t(f)(x)\,dt\right|. \] According to the classical Hopf-Dunford-Schwartz ergodic lemma, \[ m \left(\left\{x \in \Omega : M_T f (x) > \lambda\right\}\right) \leq \frac{2}{\lambda} \| f \|_{L^1(\Omega)} \text{ for all } f\in L^1(\Omega),\;\lambda>0, \] \[ \left\| M_T f\right\|_{L^p(\Omega)} \leq 2\left(\frac{p}{p-1}\right)^{1/p} \| f \|_{L^p(\Omega)} \text{ for all } f\in L^p(\Omega),\;p\in (1,\infty). \] In this paper, the authors state as a conjecture the following vector-valued Hopf-Dunford Schwartz lemma: \[ m \left(\left\{x \in \Omega : \left\|\overline{M_T} f (x)\right\|_{\ell^q} > \lambda\right\}\right) \leq C(q)\frac{1}{\lambda} \| f \|_{L^1(\ell^q)} \text{ for all } f\in L^1(\ell^q),\;\lambda>0, \] \[ \left\| \overline{M_T} f\right\|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \leq C(p,q) \| f \|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \text{ for all } f\in L^p(\ell^q),\;p\in (1,\infty), \] where \(\overline{M_T}f(x):=\left(M_T f_n(x)\right)_{n\in{\mathbb N}}\). The authors give a partial answer to this conjecture: they prove the inequality \(\left\| \overline{M_T} f\right\|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \leq C(p,q) \| f \|_{L^p(\ell^q)}\) for \(p\leq q\). Let \((\Omega,m)\) be a positive measure space and \(\left(T_t\right)_{t\geq 0}\) be a one-parameter semigroup of linear operators. Assume that \(T_t\) is a contraction in \(L^p(\Omega)\) for all \(p\in [1,\infty]\), \(t\in[0,\infty]\). In this case, the maximal function \[ M_T f(x):=\sup\limits_{\alpha>0}\frac{1}{\alpha}\left|\int\limits_0^\alpha T_t(f)(x)\,dt\right|. \] According to the classical Hopf-Dunford-Schwartz ergodic lemma, \[ m \left(\left\{x \in \Omega : M_T f (x) > \lambda\right\}\right) \leq \frac{2}{\lambda} \| f \|_{L^1(\Omega)} \text{ for all } f\in L^1(\Omega),\;\lambda>0, \] \[ \left\| M_T f\right\|_{L^p(\Omega)} \leq 2\left(\frac{p}{p-1}\right)^{1/p} \| f \|_{L^p(\Omega)} \text{ for all } f\in L^p(\Omega),\;p\in (1,\infty). \] In this paper, the authors state as a conjecture the following vector-valued Hopf-Dunford Schwartz lemma: \[ m \left(\left\{x \in \Omega : \left\|\overline{M_T} f (x)\right\|_{\ell^q} > \lambda\right\}\right) \leq C(q)\frac{1}{\lambda} \| f \|_{L^1(\ell^q)} \text{ for all } f\in L^1(\ell^q),\;\lambda>0, \] \[ \left\| \overline{M_T} f\right\|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \leq C(p,q) \| f \|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \text{ for all } f\in L^p(\ell^q),\;p\in (1,\infty), \] where \(\overline{M_T}f(x):=\left(M_T f_n(x)\right)_{n\in{\mathbb N}}\). The authors give a partial answer to this conjecture: they prove the inequality \(\left\| \overline{M_T} f\right\|_{L^p(\ell^q)} \leq C(p,q) \| f \|_{L^p(\ell^q)}\) for \(p\leq q\). As an application, they prove some Fefferman-Stein inequalities in the setting of Dunkl analysis.
