The authors prove some interesting results about bondedness and compact embedding for pseudodifferential operators on localizable Hardy spaces defined as in [\textit{D. Goldberg}, Duke Math. J. 46, 27--42 (1979; Zbl 0409.46060)]. The pseudodifferential operators under consideration belong to general classes with growth conditions for x-derivatives of the symbol. In this setting, the main theorem of the authors extends preceding contributions in literature, see in particular \textit{J. Hounie} and \textit{R. A. dos S. Kapp} [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 15, No. 2, 153--178 (2009; Zbl 1178.35396)]. Novelty here is the study of the action of negative order operators on Hardy spaces with different exponents. This is new already for classical pseudodifferential operators, in particular for Bessel potentials. It allows to deduce a compact embedding result for nonhomogeneous localizable Hardy spaces, that can be seen as counterpart of the classical Rellich compactness theorem for Sobolev spaces.
