Let \(k\) be a field of characteristic zero, \(W=\text{Der}\,k[x]\) and \(W_1= \text{Der}\,k[x,x^(-1)]\). \textit{S.-H. Ng} and the reviewer showed that all Lie bialgebra structures on \(W\) and \(W_1\) are triangular coboundary i.e., the Lie coalgebra structure is given by a skew-symmetric element of \(W\) tensor \(W\), or \(W_1\) tensor \(W_1\), satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 151, No. 1, 67--88 (2000; Zbl 0971.17008)], and also showed that \(H^1(W, W \wedge W)=0\), and similarly for \(W_1\). In two recent papers, the last two authors of the paper under review [Sci. China, Ser. A 49, No. 4, 533--544 (2006; Zbl 1171.17007)] and all three authors [Commun. Algebra, to appear] extend these results to a class of algebras generalizing \(W\). In the paper under review, the three authors extend the results to a class of algebras generalizing \(W_1\). We do not give the technical description of the generalized class of algebras (called of generalized Virasoro-like type here), but it involves an additive subgroup \(G\) of complex 2-space. When \(G=Z \times Z\), the derived algebra of the algebra involved is \(W_1\). The authors fail to identify a base field, but it is presumably the complex field, and they do not mention the results being generalized as described in the first paragraph of this review.
