The authors consider a nonlinear hyperbolic free boundary problem in a concave cornered wedge with two characteristic free boundaries of different types: one is the rarefaction wave, while the other one is the contact discontinuity. The equations are written in the vector-matrix form \(A_1(U)\partial_x U+A_2(U)\partial_y U+A_3(U)\partial_z U=0\). The corresponding contact discontinuity conditions are posed. The stability of the problem is discussed.
