The famous Chern conjecture reads as follows: \vskip.1pc If \(S\) is the value of the squared norm of the second fundamental forms for \(n\)-dimensional closed minimal hypersurfaces in the unit sphere \(S^{n+1}\) with constant scalar curvature, then the set of all \(S\) is discrete. \vskip0.1pc In 1968, as an immediate consequence of \textit{J. Simons} [Ann. Math. (2) 88, 62--105 (1968; Zbl 0181.49702)], it was shown that if \(0\leq S \leq n\), then it is either \(S\equiv 0\) or \(S\equiv n\). Chern-do Carmo-Kobayashi and Lawson found that the Clifford tori are the only closed minimal hypersurfaces in \(S^{n+1}\) satisfying \(S \equiv n\). \vskip.1pc The next possible value of \(S\) is \(2n\) according to E. Cartan and several estimates have been found. Combining all the results on \(S\), it comes to an open problem: \vskip.1pc If \(M^{n}\), \(n>3\), is a closed minimal hypersurfaces in \(S^{n+1}\) with \(S\)= constant, and if \(S>n\), then \(S\geq 2n?\) \vskip.1pc If \(n=3\), Peng-Terng showed that this open problem is true. \vskip.1pc In this paper, the authors prove that if \(M^{4}\) is a minimal Willmore hypersurface of \(S^{5}\) with constant scalar curvature, then \(M\) is either an equatorial 4 sphere, a product of spheres \(S^{2}(\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}})\times S^{2}(\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}})\) or a Cartan minimal hypersurface. In this case, the value of \(S\) can be 0, 4, or 12. This supports Chern's conjecture and an open problem as well.
