Asymptotic stability of solitons for mKdV (Q2629107): Difference between revisions

The purpose of this paper is to extend the proof of the global existence and modified scattering for the mKdV equation \[ \begin{cases} \partial_tu+\partial_x^3u+\partial_x(u^3)=0 \\ u(t=0)=u_0. \end{cases} \] In the first theorem, the space \((x,t)\) is divided into several regions, where the corresponding asymptotics are computed. In the second theorem, a strong asymptotic result for soliton solutions is shown. The proofs use Fourier transform, Paley-Littlewood operators, integration by parts, bilinear, commutator, semigroup, and energy estimates, Cauchy sequences, Duhamel formula, implicit function theorem, Plancherel's theorem, Gronwall's lemma, Gagliardo-Nirenberg, Bernstein, Young, and Sobolev inequalities. In an appendix several auxiliary lemmas, which are used in the proofs are collected and proved.
